June 15, 1927 - January 27, 2021
Charles Lafayette Duncan of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on January 27, 2021. Charles was born in Wise, Virginia the son of Earnest Everett and Molly Alice Duncan.
Charles is survived by three daughters and sons-in law; Paulette and Wayne Rowles, Patricia and Robert Glover and Charlotte and Gary Arandus. He has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Eddyth Loraine, his daughter, Lora Lee Furbee and his son, James Eugene Duncan.
Charles was a proud WWII Veteran having served in the Navy on an aircraft carrier named the USS Croatan and minesweeper submarine named the USS Gherardi. He also served in the Army as Military Police. He was the founder and lifetime member of the VFW, Post 1388, of Millersport, Ohio. He was a member of Tice United Methodist Church.
Charles and Eddyth owned and operated a very successful upholstery business until they retired in 1995 to Fort Myers, Florida. They loved to travel in their RV to visit family, friends and many historical sites across the United States. Charles loved golfing and was an avid golfer. He loved his country music and was a good dancer. His hobby was carpentry. He loved working with wood and building furniture for the family.
He will be remembered as our Hero and a Country Gentleman. He was always fun loving with a big smile. He will be missed.
