Barbara Dawn Blake

Barbara was born in Mills, Pennsylvania in her grandmother’s home. She was born January 7, 1937, to Matilda and Charles Hendershot. She grew up with her brothers Bill and Jim Hendershot in Osceola, PA and Elkland, PA. Barbara married Gordon Blake on January 8, 1955. Barbara and Gordon went on to have four children, Randy, Pamela, Paula, and Ricky. Barbara spent most of her years not only tending to her own children but as a caregiver to many children from neighbors, friends, and family members. Barbara was a very active Grama that attended each and every game, match, meet, recital, or performance that she could.

Barbara is preceded by her twin boys, mother Matilda, father Charles, son Ricky, and husband Gordon.

Barbara is survived by her children Randy, Pamela, and Paula. Her grandchildren Garrett, Kristin, Trina, Alissa, Ryan, Chase, and Ciara. Her great grandchildren Bayden, Gavin, Gracyn, Breelyn, Alexis, Alayna, Carter, Blake, Aubrey, Penelope, Quinton, Paceyn, Saryn, Conner, expected Austyn, Camden, Clayton, Colby, and Paxton. And her great-great grandchild Weslie. Barbara will be remembered and loved by her amazingly large family that she created and loved unconditionally and others that were able to know her kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ricky Blake Memorial Scholarship at Riverdale High School.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00PM to 2:00PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913, with a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
