He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John and Jenny Casella. He retired from the US Army after serving 26 years and during three war periods. He is a first generation American, his family having emmigrated from Italy. Anthony managed Lee Memorial Park Cemetery for 5 years and was a Lee County Veteran Services officer for 10 years.
Anthony was a gifted musician playing banjo, guitar, piano, organ and harmonica. He was an Army Drum Major, avid golfer, bowler and baseball umpire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emma, three brothers and three sisters. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Emma (Robert) Lotter and son, Paul Casella; grandchildren: Richard (Dorothy) Lotter, Anthony (Christine) Lotter, Sean (Leila) Casella and Robbie Casella; 8 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and brothers: Angelo (Marilyn) Casella and John Casella.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park on Saturday, October 15th from 1:30 until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 pm. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be refreshments served after the burial.
