William Franklin Ritchie

Dr. William (Bill) Franklin Ritchie passed away suddenly on October 8, 2013 at his home in Oakland Park, Fl. He was the son of Judy and Joe Ritchie of Glade Valley, NC. He was 45 years old. Bill was born in Charleston, SC on May 15, 1968 and lived in South Carolina, New Jersey, California, and Illinois due to his father’s military career. He graduated from Belleville East High School in Belleville, Illinois, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and taught five years in the Guilford county school system. He then attended Cornell University receiving a master’s degree and PhD in education. Bill was an accomplished writer having published many articles and books in the field of education. At the time of death he was the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at Keiser University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

He is survived by his parents, a twin brother Paul, a sister Lynn (husband Steve), and numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Sparta, NC on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
