Thomas James Tansey II, also known as Thom, passed away on November 24, 2023, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 84. He was born on October 4, 1939, in Watertown, Sussex County, Massachusetts.
Thom had a distinguished military career, serving as part of the 82nd Airborne, paratroopers. His dedication and commitment to his country were evident throughout his time in the military.
After his honorable service, Thom pursued a successful career as a policeman in Liberty City, Florida and Madison, Wisconsin before becoming an attorney. His legal expertise and zeal for justice were admired by his colleagues and clients alike.
One of Thom‘s greatest passions was for learning and to share his knowledge to his beloved Joan and his sons, Tom and Sean, and Tommy his grandson. He loved and studied paleontology, geology, astronomy, archaeology, writing, photography, etc. He wrote and published six books, took acrobatic plane lessons, hang gliding and para planing lessons. Was licensed in hot air balloons, air ships and helicopters.
Thom will be remembered for his integrity, zest for life,and unwavering sense of duty. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He loved his discussions and time with his sons and grandson.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas James Tansey III(And Fabi) Of Homestead, Florida, Sean, Tansey, Homestead, Florida, One grandson, Thomas James Tansey IV of Homestead, Florida, and Joan Cotton, lifelong partner of 34 years, and friends and relatives who will forever cherish his memory. May his soul rest in peace.
A funeral service for Thomas will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308.
