I’m very shocked and saddened to hear that Steve is gone. I had the privilege of working with him early on in our legal careers. We hit it off quickly having a couple of eerily similar Canadian/Ukrainian roots as well as being only children. We became fast friends and my best memories of Steve were of how funny and bright he was. He told some epic stories about all kinds of stuff including growing up in south FL. He was super proud of his parents, too. When he left MN for DC he was missed. I hadn’t talked to Steve for many years. That said I really regret it now and being in NC I wish I’d have made an effort to catch up with him in FL. Steve was a one a kind excellent guy who made a big impression on me and everyone he knew. So sorry for your loss.

I knew Steve briefly while we both worked at the John McCain for President 2008 campaign in Crystal City, Arlington, VA.  (After the campaign, I have since gone on a new path....)  He was the only one I actively kept in touch with after the campaign ended.  The last time I saw him was about 10 years ago when my wife and I visited Ft. Lauderdale.  We got in touch and he told my wife he was "kidnapping me" (LOL) and we had a great night on the town.  I regret not staying more in touch (as life just happens), as I only have good fond memories of him.  Steve was a great guy and certainly would have made an excellent father.  I am truly so very sorry for your (and everyone's) loss.

I am so very sorry for your loss! I live just a few doors down from you guys at Emera! I was so sad and shocked to hear that Steve had passed. I would often see him in the hallway and he would always stop to chat. He absolutely adored my dog, and she adored him! He would always take time to give her some love. I could tell he was a very special guy. You were lucky to have him, even for a short period! He is gone too soon, but I know he will be with you always! Big hugs and deepest sympathy. I only knew Stephen for a short time after we met at a recruiting event last year, but he was one of those rare people who brings it out of you. He had a way about him of bringing happy conversations out into the open even when you weren't feeling like it. And he was smart as a whip and a consummate optimist. The world has truly lost a bright light and I am truly shocked and saddened by his passing as I am sure his family is.

Every moment my family and I spent with Steven was marked with his incredible smile and laugh. Steven was truly a bright light to all around him and will be dearly missed. We are so incredibly sorry to hear about his premature passing and our prayers for his mom and wife will be kept up to give you strength.

There are no words that can describe the overwhelming grief you are suffering at this difficult time. Stephen was my friend from AP art back in high school. I remember a moment, being in the talent show at Pine Crest in 1998 with Stephen, we decided to play Break On Through, and he nailed the solo on the keyboard. We were so thrilled that we jumped around onstage and hugged each other.  
Used to chat with him a lot. I can't believe I just talked to him on his birthday a few weeks ago. 
He was a funny guy and terrifically clever. Good artist as well.

Stephen was one of my best friends throughout high school. We shared many fun times together on the crew team and in studio art. He was extremely bright and talented, with a wicked sense of humor. I’m deeply saddened by the news of his passing.
