Sonia was born in New York on September 19, 1964 and took pride in the strength and resilience she cultivated growing up in the Bronx. In life, Sonia had an invincible spirit, never failing to bring joy and laughter to all who knew her. Though she left this world too soon, she inspired those who knew her best to dream big even in the face of fear.
Sonia is survived by her three daughters, whom she commonly referred to as ‘her girls’, Stacy Cutrono, Destiny Colon and Annamarie Malter.
Anyone else who had battled cancer for close to 20 years might have feared death, but Sonia boldly set a goal to live far into the future and fought with determination to live each of those moments to the fullest. Sonia could almost always be counted on to have an assortment of bangles on her wrist, bold & clunky necklaces adorning her neck and a pair of funky glasses or shades. The light, love and fun she brought into every space will be missed today and always.
A celebration of life for Sonia will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33317. Guests may begin arriving at 10:00 am to meet with the family and pay their respects before the formal service begins at 10:30am.
