She has an older brother and graduated from high school from Taicheng Women's school. In 1947, she married Yin Kong Lam and had two sons: Kai Suen and Harvey. Because of their difficult life, Mr. Lam went abroad to make a living, leaving her and her eldest son to live in the country.
In 1956, she and her eldest son moved to Hong Kong where she came to know the Lord. In 1961, she was baptized at the Assembly of God in Argyle Street in Hong Kong. Mr. Lam returned to Hong Kong in 1963 and was reunited with his family. Harvey, the second son was born the following year.
To pursue a better life, her eldest son came to the United States in 1972. In 1980, the whole family moved to Florida. So Mee worked as a nanny to help support her family. The children she took care of included, Vincent Choi and Wilkie Choi, from Hong Kong in the early days; Kimmy & Ryan Ong from New York. She also cared for Chi-Wai, Chi-Hang, Chi-Sing, Siu Ling and Siu Ping. Now they are all grown up and have their own families but still kept in touch with So Mee and enjoyed a good relationship with her.
So Mee Leung bears the traditional Chinese character of a good daughter while growing up: she obeyed her father while staying at home, she obeyed her husband when she was married, and received the blessings of being cared for by her children later on in life. She was hardworking and selflessly devoted to her family. She was always lively and cheerful, with a very easy-going personality. Although she was not rich, she was full of heart and generosity. She was generous towards others and never worried about earthly things. She always had a smile on her face because she was convinced of God's supply and faithfulness, whether during the war, separation from loved ones and throughout hardships in her life. So Mee Leung always followed God’s footsteps joyfully, thankfully, and prayerfully. Although she has left this earth, her smile, sincerity and goodness will always be missed. For a virtuous woman blessed by God, life was simple, but beautiful, just as her name: "So Mee".
She is survived by elder son Kai Suen Lam, second son Harvey Lam and grand daughter Adrienne Lam.
