George Thomas and the late Marykutty Thomas. He was the adored younger brother of Diana Sood, M.D., and Toji Thomas.
The Thomas family relocated from Texas to Florida in the summer of 1987. Shaam grew up in Cooper City, FL, and graduated from Cooper City High School. He earned his A.A.
from Keiser Technical College and then pursued a career as a radiology technician. He spent a few years in NJ alongside his brother Toji before moving back home to South Florida. He worked at Quick Family Urgent Care, a clinic established in 2009 by Diana and her husband, the late Ajay Sood, M.D..
As a child, Shaam's interests spanned a wide spectrum from gymnastics, skateboarding, and basketball to piano, drumming, and dancing. His interests later expanded to movies, music, sports, memorabilia, and travel. Shaam had a zest for life unmatched by many. He took adventurous trips, often highlighted by extreme experiences like ATV riding, cliff jumping, parasailing, or zip lining. A hobby at which he excelled was his love for cooking. He enjoyed expressing that talent by preparing delicious meals for his loved ones.
More than anything, Shaam loved people. If you had the opportunity to meet him, he no doubt left an indelible mark on you. His warm greetings, infectious laughter, and great sense of humor cannot be forgotten. He had a warm an generous heart that touched everyone he met. His contagious smile brightened up any room. He was always there to lend a listening ear, share a funny story, or crack a joke. He cherished every moment he spent with his family and friends. He never gave up hope and always looked forward to a better tomorrow, even during his darkest and final days.
Shaam leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his sister Diana Sood, M.D., her children Roshan and Anjali, his brother Toji Thomas and wife Betsy Thomas, and their children Jordan, Chase, and Riley. He is also survived by his cousins, friends, and all those whose hearts and smiles he touched. We take this time to express our sincere gratitude for your prayerful presence during this time of bereavement.
