Robert (Bob) Leo Savino, age 90, departed this world on September 27, 2024, in Ft. Lauderdale. Born on February 28, 1934, in Waterbury, CT, Bob was known for his vibrant personality, often filling the room with laughter through his jokes and playful pranks.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Virginia Stewart of Ft. Lauderdale; son, Leo Savino of Cheyenne, WY; daughters, Joan (Russell) Batten of Tallahassee, FL, Jeanine Dupas of Hollywood, FL; grandchildren, Anthony, Phillip, and Stephen (Nicole) Savino of Columbia, TN, and Emily Dupas of Hollywood, FL; and great-granddaughter, Carlie Savino, currently stationed on the USS Nimitz with the USN.
A graduate of Pine Crest School he attended the University of Florida and Florida State University. Served in the U.S. Army, after trying out for the New York White Socks. His love of sports included playing golf for most of his life. A skilled craftsman that transformed the homes of many along the east coast from Maine to Florida.
An enthusiast of the natural world, Bob spent much of his free time collecting rocks, wood, and seashells, which he skillfully transformed into practical works of art. His curiosity about how things were created fueled his later years, during which he became an avid watcher of discovery and travel shows. His love of animals resulted in many rescues throughout his life.
