So sorry for your loss…. I knew “Bobby” when he was 18. He came to my sweet 16 birthday party. I had a “crush” on him.  We both worked at the A&P… and I remember he lived on Montague st. Soooo very long ago. He was a nice boy…. And I see that his life was full, rich, and deeply spiritual. RIP Bob.

Senior Ruyack was my spanish language teacher. He was such an excellent teacher and a great person just to know and speak with. It is sad to hear about your loss and I pray that you find comfort in the beautiful memories that people expressed and know that he made a difference in so many lives. 
Having lived in the 80s, album artwork was painted on jean jackets and I had this one with a gross face on it. It turned black outside and he forbid me to wear it to class. He said (diablo, no bueno) A fair and professional teacher. The best teacher I ever had. I even married a Colombian and use the spanish that he spoke and taught . God bless you Senior Ruyack.

So sorry to here of Senor Ruyack's passing. I have such fond memories of his classes (I had him as my teacher for 3 or 4 years through AP Spanish literature) - he was very kind, had a great sense of humor and was a terrific Spanish teacher.  His enthusiasm for Spanish language and culture was extraordinary. I aced my AP Spanish test and then at Dartmouth became fluent when I studied in Salamanca and later Madrid and Granada, Spain.  I even taught Spanish for 2 years and thought of him often. He inspired me to master grammar/syntax. I can still hear him teaching us direct and indirect object pronouns. I'm hoping Larry Miller sees this as he has a great story about discovering Mr. Ruyack on his Jet Blue plane (Larry is a pilot) heading to Florida.
A wonderful teacher and inspiration to generations of BHHS students. Muchas gracias senior y mucho amor. May his memory be a blessing.

My deepest condolences to the Ruyack family. Senor Ruyack was my Spanish teacher (Spanish 3 and AP Spanish) at Byram Hills H.S. (class of 1979). He was one of the best teachers. He set a high bar and we knew we had to get there. He also taught me some important life lessons that even at age 61 I am using! Example: "Use what you know." When we struggled to put our thoughts into Spanish, he said "Use the Zen approach and just use what you know. Don't fight it." Well, that's expert advice for just about everything! He was also a great listener. When my parents broke up, he was a shoulder I could cry on, literally. You were blessed to call him son, brother, uncle etc. Rest in peace, Senor Ruyack.

Bob Ruyack was my spanish teacher for 3 out of my 4 years at Byram Hills HS.  He was so kind to me for all those years and for many more after I graduated.  We kept up corresponding all the way until just the last few years, and I always deeply appreciated his guidance and sense of humor.  I'm sure he's have a good laugh up in the great beyond even as we miss him here on this plane.

I had the privilege to be a student of Mr. Ruyack at Byram Hills High School a long time ago.  He provided insights far beyond the foreign language subject he taught, and his influence has had a very positive impact on my life.

Mr. Ruyack was my favorite teacher. He encouraged me to continue my study of Spanish in college, inspired my love of travel through our school trip to Spain, and even after graduation helped to prepare me for my first interview. He was kind and compassionate. He believed in me and always told me that he did. I graduated in 1991 and I can still hear his voice and laughter in our classroom all these years later. May his memory be a blessing. 

I had the honor of working with Bob when I became a guidance counselor at Byram Hills HS in 1997.  He was a dynamic teacher.
He and I could feel completely at ease to exchange our concerns about a student who was experiencing academic difficulty or he would share praises about students who were exemplary.  He taught many of the higher level Spanish classes.  He cared about all of his students.  I believe when he retired from our high school and moved to Florida, he continued to teach Spanish on the community college level.  Without my knowledge, he was placed at my table at my retirement dinner in 2017, and I was happy to see him once again.

Bob was my teacher and my friend.

He had a great impact on my life during what for me were very difficult years. He tried to inspire me to study harder and devote myself to my education because it was important. I wish I had listened better and followed his advice.

May his memory be a blessing.

We were so very sorry to hear that our dear friend, Bobby, passed away.   For many years we shared such good times together with him and his mom, Grace,    Bobby was a wonderful person to know - he was kind, thoughtful and had an exceptional sense of humor,   On his last trip North he surprised us with a visit on Long Beach Island - what a good time we had with him and his friend Ernie.  May he rest in peace and be assured he will never be forgotten.
