Paula M. Luna was born on December 28, 1946 to Willie Luna and Maureen Shepard (Zachman) in the heartland of America Marion, Ohio. In 1964, she graduated Pleasant High School in Marion. She followed her dreams of becoming a marine biologist and traveled to Miami, Florida to attend the University of Miami where she graduated in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Business Administration.
After college, she went to work at Southern Bell Telephone and BellSouth where in 1975 she met the love of her life, Orma “Doc” Moore. It was love at first sight. They married on Aug. 20, 1977, and enjoyed 47 years together. She loved living in Florida, a paradise surrounded by beautiful plants and the ocean, but her greatest joy in life was being a mother of two beautiful, intelligent daughters Ashley and Amanda and especially being “Grammy” to four amazing granddaughters Grace Prince, Brianna Prince, Jovana Heyman and Romi Heyman (due March 2022). Family was her focus and was a strong advocate for peace and the love of humanity. She stressed to her daughters and Sunday school students to be kind to others, love and respect God’s creatures, and most of all “Use your powers for good.” She lived this value whether she was volunteering at church or relentlessly advocating for women’s rights and education, as a member of the Soroptimist International Organization, an international women’s club dedicated to the advancement of women across the world. She strongly supported the fight against human trafficking and was actively working to help young women with children advance their education and restart in society.
Paula will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, beautiful bright smile, kind heart, and unwavering belief in God’s love and power in our lives. Paula is survived by her husband Orma Moore; her daughters Ashley Prince and Amanda Moore; her stepchildren Todd Moore and Lonea McGowen, her granddaughters Grace Prince, Brianna Prince, Jovana Luna Heyman, Romi Heyman; her sisters Priscilla Wilcox, Victoria Ford, Roberta Burggraf, and brother Robert “Bill” Shepard; and a host of cousins most of whom reside in Ohio.
A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church at 4845 NE 25th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33308 on March 12, 2022, 10:00 am ET and is open to all of her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be sent in her name to the Soroptimist International Davie at 11347 SW 12 Street, Pembroke Pines, Fl 33025 or Christ Church at the above address.
God bless all who have been part of Paula’s life. She loves each of you and will offer your name to the Lord for the blessing he offers each of us.
