Paul B. Murphy, 93, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida passed away December 19th . He was born in Nyack, New York on November 15th, 1923 and graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York with a degree in Engineering Studies.
Paul was married to, and survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Norma Murphy.
Paul had worked in the marine industry and spent a substantial part of his life on and around boats, an affinity that was shared by his wife and passed down through his children and grandchildren. In the later part of his career, Paul established and ran a successful Marine Business in the Ft Lauderdale area; Paul B. Murphy Co. and Baylor Marine Supply. Earlier in life, he was an active member and committee member at the Nyack Boat Club and engaging his passion for woodworking in building several small sailboats as well as working with his Dad in the construction of larger wooden powerboats.
Paul is survived by his Daughter, Gail Murphy of Cutchogue, NY, Son and Daughter-in-law Bruce and Judy Murphy of East Islip, NY, his Niece, Susan Murphy of Suffern, NY, Grandchildren, Kerri Murphy-Blackman, Christopher Murphy, Sarah Swist, Robin Himottu and Great Grandson, Pearson Swist.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 5:00-9:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Paul’s funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning, Dec. 28,at 10:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale with military honors.
