“The Kindest Person I’ve Ever Known”
An angel on earth was lost when Pamela Whitman Robb, 71, of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on February 17, 2022. Born in Stillwater, Minnesota she spent her youth in Afton, enjoying the great outdoors in the woodlands along the St Croix River.
Always active and athletic, upon graduation from Stillwater HS, she attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Physical Education. She would go on to become a fourth-generation teacher in her family. Affectionately known as “Coach”, Pam taught physical education, health science, yoga, and meditation for over 40 years in Florida, and established a popular extracurricular environmental club at Cooper City High School in Fort Lauderdale, where she cultivated a wonder of nature in her students.
Pam’s life was especially enriched when she met her life partner of 25 years, Angie Anobile. They shared a love of family and friends, kayaking, camping, hiking, traveling, environmental causes, human rights issues, and animal advocacy.
Pam, a kind and gentle soul, was an avid animal lover. After retiring she spent eight years volunteering at a dog rescue center, rehabilitating and re-homing hundreds of abused and abandoned dogs. She passed away doing what she loved when a tragic accident occurred while volunteering.
Her legacy will live on through family, countless friends, fellow volunteers, spiritual circle, and former students.
Pam is survived by her wife Angie Anobile-Robb; sister Deborah Robb Jankura and husband Edwin; niece Lindy Jankura; nephew Robb Jankura and wife Lisa Ding; grandnephews Otis and Theodore, aunt Shari Johnson and extended beloved family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents David and Babette Robb, uncles Bruce Johnson, Edwin Robb, Walter Robb, aunt Jeanne Schmitt, her great uncle Ernie Pyle (WWII Pulitzer Prize war correspondent), and her distant relative, poet Walt Whitman.
Pam’s Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, 3pm, at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, 751 Sheridan St, Hollywood, FL. If attending, kindly wear blue, Pam’s favorite color. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local animal rescue shelter. Pam‘s ashes will be interred this summer in Afton, Minnesota with a small graveside service for immediate family.
