Known as Nick, Nicky or “Nicky Brown Eyes”, and most importantly Dad and Grandpa. He is survived by his son, Nick Jr., (Jennifer) and his daughter Nancy Medlock(Bobby). Nick was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Trey, Kaitlyn, Nicholas III, Alexandra, Brooke and Caroline.
He was born on July 25, 1944 in Mt. Vernon New York. When Nick was a teenager, his family moved to Florida. It was there in 1963 that he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jeanne. Together they raised a family and owned an excavation business known as N. Sacco and Son. (If you have a pool in Broward or Dade county, chances are he was the one who dug the hole). Nick served his country both in the Army and the National Guard. Nick was a true patriot and loved this country. He was a proud member of Cooper City’s American Legion. Nick lived in the city of Miramar for many years where he served the community as a City Commissioner and Vice Mayor in the early 90’s. In 1995, they moved from Miramar to Coral Springs. In 1999, Nick retired from the excavation business and became the “on site” repairman at Western High School. He loved being around people and creating lasting relationships. At Western, he became the activities bus driver and took many athlete to their competitive events.
Everyone who knew Nick, loved Nick. Most remember him singing his DooWop songs up and down the hallways. When his wife Jeanne passed away in 2014, Nick’s life completely changed. He moved in with his daughter, Nancy and son in law Bobby and tried to begin again. Although he never got over the loss of his wife, he found the courage to find a new hobby that was a talent unrealized. He began singing Karaoke. Nick was able to connect with people on a whole new level with his singing. He sang to people at restaurants, grocery stores and even home improvement stores. Many loved to hear him and it gave him purpose.
Nick was also a great friend. He was constantly in touch with everyone. Old and new. If he met you that day, you were his friend. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed going out and meeting people. Nick also loved taking pictures. Sunrises and sunsets were his specialty. Every morning he would send those shots to many friends via text message or social media.
My dad was an amazing man and all that he meant to us cannot be summarized in this short obituary (which I still can’t believe I am writing). If you knew Nick, you loved Nick. I have never heard anyone say anything negative about him. He had a heart of gold and a personality that was big and humble all in one. We love you dad, we will miss you, but we are glad you are in heaven with Jesus, mom and all those who went before you. May your legacy live on in your children and grandchildren for generations to come.
