Nancy was born in 1932 in Jefferson, Kentucky, to the Frank Lewis Platt and Eunice Hartman Platt.
Along with her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Stewart Britt, her young sons Gregory and Wayne, her brothers Lewis F. Platt and Charles W. Platt and her sister, Carolyn P. Jenkinson.
Nancy is survived by her son, Warren (Patty) Britt of Winfield, IL, her daughter Karen (Michael) Ivie and grandchildren Dominic Alexander and Amelia Rose Ivie of Richmond, VA, and her daughter Sharon (Frederick) Stresau and grandchildren, Frederick Sebastian and Celeste Rose Stresau of Fort Lauderdale, FL .
Nancy was a founding member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale where she did everything from helping to break the ground to build the church, singing in the choir, and working as an editor at Coral Ridge Ministries for over 20 years. She loved the Lord and all her friends in her church community.
She worked hard most of her life as a single mom at a time when opportunity and wages weren't equal. She always saw the best in people. She had a very kind and giving heart always befriending, loving and supporting people she felt were misunderstood. She was always recognizable with of her signature red hair, colorful outfits and joyful laugh.
Nancy passed away peacefully 8 years after a stroke left her disabled. For the last 5 years she lived at Williamsburg Landing in Oakland Park, Florida, where she was treated like family with kindness and love.
