Michael (Mike) Martin, 51, of Pembroke Pines, FL passed away on November 29, 2017 peacefully in his sleep. Born in West Virginia, on July 3, 1966, Mike was the only son to Karen Martin, Michael Carrabba and step father Pete Burrola.
He attended Miami Springs Jr. High and graduated from North Miami Senior High School. Mike worked for D&J Constructions for many years. On April 15, 1995, he married the love of his life, Giovanna.
Mike excelled at sports and was very competitive. He loved to watch and play basketball, racquetball, swimming, golf, and was a master roller skater. He and his wife enjoyed camping together as well. Mike loved dogs and would rescue any that he found in need of help. His last rescue was Mia, a German shepard, whom he found on the streets and brought home to his wife's surprise. The other dogs he helped save over the years and gave a loving forever home to were Buddy, Spanky, Dutchess, Bucky, Cinnamon, and Suzy, who have already crossed the rainbow bridge.
Mike was a sweet soul, although he was tough, it was always with good intentions and he was adored by everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. He loved his family so much and was extremely proud of his two boys for everything they've accomplished. He was also a fighter: he lived longer than most doctors expected with his illness and he fought until his last day.
He has left behind a loving wife, Giovanna Martin, two sons: Michael (fiancé Cynthia Gilmore) Martin, and Mitchell Martin, his mother Karen Martin, and many extended family members and friends. To everyone he was a husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend but to us he was the world.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17 2017 from 10 AM - 12 PM, in the Pyramid at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following. He will be laid to rest at 1 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
