Maria Deleon

May 1, 1934 - July 15, 2023

On Saturday, July 15, 2023 our mother passed away at the age of 89. She was born in Arequipa, Peru. She lived in South Florida for over 50 years, yet always remembered her roots. She was the center of 38 family members; her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of everyone. She never let us forget the importance of family, education and hard work, which she showed by example.

She designed and made dresses for countless weddings, proms, anniversaries and many more occasions…bringing happiness to many people throughout her life. This was her passion from a very young age.

Yet her greatest accomplishment was her family. She was the Pillar of our family! She was present at every family gathering, cooking for all whenever she had the chance. It made her very happy to see her family together.

She had a generous, loving heart and was a devout Catholic. She will always be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Mami, you will be in our hearts and memories forever and we will miss your smile and conversations deeply.

A mass of christian burial for Maria will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Gregory Catholic Church, 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324. Following the mass of christian burial will be a committal service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.
