What can I say about this beautiful woman? There are so many wonderful things, but the first thing that comes to mind is her generosity. I was Margaret's tenant for 14 years and she looked after me as her own daughter. I always enjoyed her Christmas cookies! We had so many pleasant talks and she always made me feel better afterwards. Well.....now you are at rest with Hank and enjoying each other again. Thank you for all that you did for me...I will always treasure these memories.........RIP Margaret!!!

The service for my grandma just ended...it was beautiful.  My only regret is that I didnt get up and speak about what an awesome grandma she was although more than likely I wouldnt have been able to get the words out. So here is my memorial to her.  

My Grandma was truly the best, the kindest most thoughtful person I've ever known.  She would have given you the shirt off her back, even if she was shoveling snow in the middle of winter (which did along with salting the driveway every year).  Grandma did everything herself, from painting the outside of the house, fixing the roof to getting my grandfather a cup of water or a beer.  She never asked for help or complained or at least I never heard her complain.

She taught me how to play poker when I was 8 years old, made me lunch everyday and made dinners for us every night.  She loved to cook and never wasted food.  If we had corned beef and cabbage one night then we would have corned beef hash and fried cabbage the next; left over potatoes were fried with liverwurst(one of my favorites), left over noodles were baked with scrabbled eggs and served with jelly.  Her chicken pot pies were the best.  I only wish I had some of her recipes to pass down.

She made her own bread, I remember her putting the dough on the radiator and waiting for it to rise.  She loved to bake.  Every Christmas she made enough cookies to feed a small nation.  She delivered tins of cookies to so many people. They were awesome, especially the gingerbread men.  Oh and she always made a loaf of fruit bread (stollen- not one of my favorites) for everyone.

My favorite time of the year was Christmas.  She always threw the best Christmas Eve parties.  I remember staring out the front window with my sister and grandfather waiting for everyone to arrive.  Grandma would have made a ham, a turkey, and roast beef while Margaret made the punch.  To this day we still make that punch every Christmas Eve. These parties are one of my best memories.

Grandma loved to shop, especially at the ABC store.  We walked everywhere she shopped, from the grocery store to Steinway (one time she and my mom even carried home new tiles). Even on her last days she had the Home Shopping Network playing on the TV. At least I know why I shop so much.

Grandma - I am so sorry I didn't visit you more and am going to miss you so very much. You were loved by so many people and touched so many lives especially mine.  I am so grateful for having you in my life and my kids lives.  I LOVE YOU!!!
