Clawson, Lorraine C., 71, of Oakland Park, Florida passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home and family March 6, 2012. A graduate of Montclair College High, she received her Bachelors and Masters degree at Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J. She taught in various public schools in N.J. before moving to Florida with her husband, Curtis, in 1968. For 40 years Lorraine has dedicated her professional and personal career to serve survivors of brain injury, their families and caregivers in South Florida and Broward County. For over 22 years she co-lead the monthly North Broward support group. She served for many years as a volunteer fundraiser and member of various committees for Brian Injury Association of Florida. Her career as a speech and language pathologist helped thousands of survivors and their families reach their potential through rehabilitation after brain injury. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Curtis R. Clawson; her brother, Richard (Jeanann) Cimino; various aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends. Family will welcome friends for Visitation, Friday, March 9th from 5 to 9pm at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 N. Federal Hwy, Ft Lauderdale. www.kraeerfairchild.com . A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, March 10th at 10am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Dr., Ft Lauderdale. Lorraine Clawson’s exemplary commitment, dedication and voice for brain injury will be continued in her honor through gifts and support of survivors of brain injury and their families at Camp TBI.
