Linda S. (Alexander) Sapp, age 67, went to heaven where she will watch over those she loved from above. Her passing occurred on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, in Gold Coast Hospice at Broward Health Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 27, 1951 Linda was the daughter of the late Vanderbilt and Helen (Foster) Alexander. She was raised and educated in Jacksonville and graduated from William Marian Raines High School the Class of 1969. Linda moved to Fort Lauderdale shortly after high school and continued her educational studies where she received her BA in Social Work from FAU and her MSW from Barry University. Linda held a position as a Oncology Social Worker at Broward Health Medical Center for 34 years and for another 5 years at Memorial Hospital.Linda was a wonderful woman, and her loved ones came first and she would do anything for them. She offered her wisdom and advice and was the rock and voice of reason and was the corner stone of the family. She was a mom who had rules to follow and values to embrace. Linda was a Christian woman, who believed in God and fashioned her life by his teachings. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises, watching sports, singing, and going out to dinner to try new foods. One of Linda’s most notable accomplishments was completing the 26 mile Disney Marathon.
Linda practiced her faith by attending Good News Church, and was President of the Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers (FSOSW), she also volunteered with the American Cancer Society’s the Look Good Feel Better Program.
Linda is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Franquel and Arnold Smith and Demita “Shellee” Sapp; her grandchildren, Frederick Griffin, Ariel Griffin and Ryan Hibbert; her siblings, Janie Bender, Carolyn Barney, Larry and Patricia Alexander, Dwight Alexander and Karen Simmons; her nieces and nephews, Kim Clark, Gretchen Rogers, Helaine Jones, Jeff and Cassandra Rogers, Misti and Nick Griffin, Eric Alexander, Ashley Alexander, Michelle Alexander, Natalie Hall, Phillip Baggs, Kisha Baggs, Azzon Simmons and Alexander Simmons. Linda also leaves many, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear and cherished friends too numerous to mention.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018, from 4:00 – 7:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Linda’s Home Going Celebration will commence on Saturday at Noon at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in the Alexander Family Cemetery in Greenville, Florida.
