Lillian Valvano, age 97, of Davie, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 peacefully at her home. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 11:30am at St. David Catholic Church; 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, Fl 33328. Lillian was born in 1914 in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Hollywood, FL in 1958 with her husband, Anthony Valvano, and son, Michael A. Valvano, Sr. Both Lillian and her husband were active the New York garment industry and opened their own factory “Valarie of Hollywood” in Florida. Their factory employed sewing machine operators which manufactured Ladies Sportswear until the late 90’s. In 1998, Anthony “Val” and Lillian moved to Davie, FL. Lillian took great pride in her family and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of a Ladies’ Sewing Group which enjoyed sewing as a hobby as well as social activities. She was an active member at both Little Flower Catholic Church in Hollywood, Fl and then at St. David Catholic Church in Davie, FL. Lillian is survived by her loving family: her daughter-in-law, Janice M. Valvano; two grandchildren, Janille Faulkner and Mike Valvano; their spouses, Matt Faulkner and Tammy Valvano; and three great-grandchildren, Christina Valvano, Alyssa Valvano and Kyle Faulkner.
