Born in Miami, Florida on July 13, 1955, Kerry was the son of the late Frances and Dolores (Boyer) Hardison. Kerry was the second generation Floridian who was born and raised in South Florida. During his summer vacations he would spend his time working on his grandparents ranch in Arcadia, Florida. After high school he attended the police academy at Broward College.
On July 13, 1975, he was married to Virona Jean, the couple shared a loving and devoted marriage and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this year. Kerry served with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department from 1974 – 2001. He primarily served on their Motorcycle Unit. After his retirement he became head security officer for Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale.
Kerry enjoyed spending time at his family’s home in the mountains of North Carolina. He also enjoyed playing with his adored grandchildren. He was very active in C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), an organization that benefitted the families of officers killed in the line of duty. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 31, being named member of the year in 1996. Kerry founded the Southeast Police Motorcycle Rodeo, a motorcycle competition which benefitted the organization C.O.P.S. In addition to founding the competition, he was named “Mr. Rodeo in 1990 after he won the competition. Kerry practiced his faith at Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church in Fort Lauderdale. He was a devout Christian and believed that Jesus Christ was his savior.
Kerry is survived by his wife, Virona Hardison; his daughters, Erin Lynn Chaison of Tequesta,Kelly Jean Hardison of Fort Lauderdale and Colleen Ann Hardison of Chicago; his grandchildren, Paul and Teagan Chaison of Tequesta, FL; his brother, Mark Hardison of Miami, FL; his nieces and nephews, Victoria and Brendon Sterry, Megan and Justin Martini, Desiree and Jeff Galloway, Jaclyn and Thomas Daly, Alexandra Ortiz, Brian Halleran and Tristan Ortiz; his in-laws, Christine Halleran of Jacksonville, FL and Heidi Speaker of Elizabeth, CO. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Bryan B. and Jessie (Mischler) Boyer, his in-laws, Ronald and Virginia Speaker and Joseph Halleran, Sr.

Kerry’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 13301 Ellison Wilson Road, Juno Beach, FL 33408, with Pastor Jim Graeser, officiating.
