Jerry L Smith, age 81, of Oakland Park, passed away on Saturday, July 6,2024. He was the widower of Esther R Smith.
Jerry was born in Greenwood SC on April 5,1943 to Annie Mae Anderson Smith and Arthur A. Smith.
He moved to the state of Florida in the 1960’s and worked as a carpenter. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Smith Nabors and a brother, Samuel A Smith.
He is survived by sisters Peggy Smith Ziegler (Tony) of Mapleton Mn., Martha Smith Stewart (Donald Williams) of Lyman SC, and Dorothy Smith Johnson (Henry) of Greenwood SC. He is also survived by a cousin, Barbara Bush, of Greenwood SC, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was an avid country music fan. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing for family and friends. He performed small concerts in the area. He will be missed by His many friends in Florida.
The family will honor and commemorate Jerry’s life at a later time.
