Passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, in Tamarac, Florida, age 88. Born March 26, 1930, in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan, she was the eldest of two daughters of Richard Kenneth Stull and Maud Eileen Trevethan. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School, class of 1948, attended Flint Junior College in the mid-1960’s, and retired after a career with Ameritech/AT&T in Pontiac, Michigan.
She married James Henry Elder of Flint, Michigan, on April 8, 1950. They had two sons prior to divorcing in 1967; she never remarried.
Janet maintained a lifelong interest in genealogy, being a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, most recently holding membership in the Major William Lauderdale chapter in Plantation, Florida. She also enjoyed art and history, serving as a long time volunteer docent after her retirement at Meadow Brook Hall in Pontiac, Michigan and Bonnet House Museum & Gardens in Ft. Lauderdale.
Janet was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, where completing her Greenhouse Progressive Bible Study certificate was one of her proudest accomplishments.
She was predeceased by her younger sister, Nancy Celia Stull-Neal-Zeller of Newtown, CT and is survived by two sons, Daniel James Elder of Vidalia, Georgia and Wade Robert Elder of Nashville, Tennessee, and 6 grandchildren, Aaron, Heidi, Joel, Jason, Seth, and Katie, all of Vidalia, Georgia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 6:00 - 7:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Janet's funeral service will commence immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens, Flint, Michigan at the convenience of the family.
