Born in Pennsylvania on October 18, 1931 to Esther and Edgar Hedges, Ivy attended Kutztown University, receiving a bachelors degree in education. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, and later became a successful real estate agent in Elkhart, Indiana until her retirement.
She loved cooking, music, throwing great parties, and playing bridge. But most of all she loved her family and the love of her life for 55 years, her husband, James Peterson.
Survivors include her son, James M. Peterson, his wife Joan, and their two daughters Michelle(Donald) and Kellen(Kevin); and her daughter Amy E. Mihelich, her husband Anthony, and their daughters Amanda(Guillaume) and Allyce(Joshua), and their triplet sons Anthony, Benjamin, and William. She is also survived by eight wonderful great grandchildren.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place where Ivy will be laid to rest alongside James at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnsouth.com for the Peterson family.
