Howard Louis ( Jackie to his beloved family) Cunningham, loving son, fantastic uncle to his many nieces and nephews and the best brother anyone could have departed this world to go home to his family on Saturday September 19, 2020 after a long illness.
Howard was an amazing man with many talents, he was born in Washington DC on December 27, 1954 and grew to be a highly talented Ballroom dancer and an instructor for leading dance studios in Florida and competed internationally.
After retiring from competition Howard ( Jackie) did private dance lessons in south Florida and led a winning international dance troop known as the Rough Riders that took on challengers all over the US and Canada.
Along with an exciting career in the dance world, Howard was the founder and proprietor of the Dance industry’s highly acclaimed design and custom clothing and dance apparel studio, “The Ballroom Shoppe” in Oakland Park Florida, where Howard created and designed incredible dance costumes for leading dancers and ice skaters, some of which adorned the competitors on the popular television show “Dancing With the Stars”
Howard’s big friendly smile and giving heart will never be forgotten by those that came to know him through his life.
Howard was a dynamic force to work with, a very kind, giving person and a devoted loyal friend, that will be greatly missed by all that ever knew him.
He is survived by his mother Emma Rita Cunningham and father Robert S Cunningham II, three brothers Joe Cunningham and his wife Loran, Robert Smith Cunningham III and his wife Phyliss, Bruce Cunningham and his wife Sylvia, his sister, Sandra Cunningham, his best friend in life Ernesto Salvati, his much loved Aunts, Cathy Williams, Margaret Mullins, Helen Santoro, his Uncle John Goldberg, cousins living all over our great country and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Howard’s Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday September 23 at Kreear - Fairchild Funeral Home at 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida , 33308 from 4pm until 8pm and there will be a short service on Thursday morning starting at 10am followed by a burial at Evergreen Cemetery at 1300 SE 10th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
