Gerardo Sanchez was born on April 14, 1932 in Fredonia, Colombia. In 1965, he moved with his family to the United States landing in Jersey City, NJ where all remained until 1990 when Florida became the family's new home.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia, and children Luis, Maria and Alvaro. His grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Gabrielle, Alexandria and great-grandchildren, Bella, Briana, Mathew, Samuel, Jonathan, Sebastian and Senali.
