Frederick Wentworth Hamm was born on April 7, 1932, in Deerfield (Lake County), Illinois. He passed away at the age of 89 on Friday, August 19, 2021. Frederick, known as “Ted” to his friends and family, was the loving father of Diane M. Sandberg (Harlan Sandberg-Son-in-Law) of Pompano Beach, FL, Grandfather to Daniel P. Diambri and Amanda M. Diambri and Uncle to many wonderful, supportive nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Ted enjoyed many of life’s pleasures in his early years, such as boating, fishing, golfing and playing the organ. He was also the very best “handyman” in the house but he also knew his way around the garage and loved to tinker with cars and tools. He loved to engage on the CB Radio (his handle was “Teddy Bear” and Ham Radio well.
Ted moved from Illinois to Florida in middle 80’s. He began his Florida adventures in West Palm Beach where he and his wife opened up a screen printing business. He also owned a used car lot in the Lake Worth Area.
Ted was married to his wife, Kayleen A. (Hillebrand) Hamm for 32 years. They moved to Lake Placid, Florida to enjoy their retirement years together on Lake Carrie. When both became too ill to care for themselves, they moved to Pompano Beach to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law for the extra help they needed. Kayleen predeceased Ted in June of 2018. Ted was also predeceased by his 3 sisters, Margareta (Peggy) (Nee Hamm) Ovnich, Virginia (Ginny) (Nee Hamm) Poggioli, Juanita (Sug) (Nee Hamm) Gieske and by 1 brother William E. Hamm.
Ted was a Military Veteran of the Korean War from 1952 – 1954 with an Honorable Discharge from the Army. He also served on the Police Department in Highland Park, Illinois. May he Rest in Eternal Peace in God’s Loving Arms. His final resting place will be at Eden Memorial Park Cemetery located in Schiller Park, Illinois.
