Mrs. Fannie Mae Crenshaw Trice was born May 28, 1931 to the late Joseph and Jannie Pratt Crenshaw in Keystone, West Virginia. Fannie was the fifth child and all her Siblings preceded her in death, John Crenshaw, Frank Crenshaw, Isabelle Marie Crenshaw Davis, and Dr. Janie Louise Crenshaw Johnson.

Fannie meet and married the love of her life, Charlie Trice and this union was a great one for 64 years. To this union they shared one loving Daughter, Genevieve Trice Evans and three amazing Grandchildren. Maurice Renall Walker Jr. (Unique), Marnisia Rae Walker, and Myron Rashaad (Deceased), all of Sunrise, Florida. Fannie's extended lovable friends which she called her "Play Children" are, Ollie Turner, Louella Warner, Dr. Barbara Thomas, Joyce Moore, Mary Sands-Williams, and Kathleen Morrison.
Fannie graduated from Kimball High School in West Virginia at an early age of 16. After graduating she enrolled in Beauty College and later became the sole owner of The Silhouette Beauty Lounge in Brooklyn NY for 18 years, creating employment for many resident in the community. Later she enter Queens College, at the height of the Civil Rights struggle and became one of the first fifteen Black students to graduate from Queens College in 1974. With a BA Degree in Education, she continued her studies at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY and graduated in December, 1976 with a MS Degree in Special Education.
She entered Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida in 1978 and completed the certification program for Elementary School Principals in 1980. Fannie was selected to enter the Principal's Intern Program in 1985 and was placed in two schools, Stephen Foster Elementary of Fort Lauderdale and Sunshine Elementary School in Hollywood, Florida. Upon completion she became Assistant Principal of Martin Luther King Elementary School (1985-1987), Broward Estates Elementary, (1987-1989), and Royal Palm Elementary, (1990-1994), all serving the Broward County Schools District. In 1994, she retired from the Broward County Schools District. Later she moved to Pleasantville, NJ where she accepted a position with the Pleasantville Schools District for five years. Again in 2001, Fannie retired at the tender age of 70 and returned to Florida to rest and be with her Daughter and Grandchildren.
Fannie was involved in many community service organizations including, founder of the Kimball High School Alumnae Chapter of NY (1973), and organized a chapter in Broward County, a member of the National Business and Professional Women INC. (1960-69), Phi Delta Kappa (1980), Delta Sigma Theta Miami Alumnae Chapter-(1985), Kappa Delta PI (1988) and the National Alliance of Black School Educators (1982-84).
During her lifetime, Fannie taught and nurtured many children in three states. Her classroom experience consists of teaching in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. After relocating to Florida in 1976 she was employed at Lauderdale Lakes Middle School for 11 years, she took a political position with the Teachers Union in Broward County, as a leader with NEA Teachers Group where she was elected to the Democratic National Convention as a Delegate for President Jimmy Carter in 1978 giving her the honor of being selected "Who's Who" in Florida Politics.
Fannie put on Christ in Baptism at Golden Heights Church of Christ in 1978 under the Leadership of Minister, Dr. W.F. Washington. Fannie served faithfully in many programs at Golden Heights. She served as Chairperson for the Back to Basic Saturday School, Co¬Chairperson of the College Bound Program for young Christians, she was on the Advisory Board for Golden Heights Christian Academy, Chairperson of the Accreditation Committee, served as Chairperson for the Ministries Conference (MIC), and Chairperson for Golden Heights Staff for 11 years. Fannie is greatly loved by Minister Dr. W.F. Washington and the entire Golden Heights Church of Christ Family.
Fannie leaves to cherish her joyful memory a loving and devoted husband Charlie Trice, her precious and loving daughter Genevieve Trice Evans (Doward) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Grandchildren, Maurice R. Walker (Unique) of Sunrise, Florida, Marnisia Rae Walker, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Two Sisters-in-laws Laura Trice and Jessie Mae Trice of Delray Beach, FL,Two Brothers -in -laws ,Marcellus Trice (Patricia Deceased), James Trice (Katie) Five Nieces, Donna Rae Crenshaw, Washington, DC, Mary E. Puyear (Tommy) of East Orange, NJ, and Cheryl Doris, of St. Petersburg, FL, Olivia Trice Houston (Marvin), and Valerie Trice of Delray Beach, FL, one Nephews, Hal Quinton Crenshaw (Beverly) of Bluefield, West Virginia and one Grand Nephew Anthony Harrison of Brooklyn, NY. A host of many Nieces and Nephews, Golden Heights Church of Christ Christian brothers and sisters in Christ, Professional friends, Educational Associates, relatives and so many friends.
A viewing for Fannie will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Golden Heights Church Of Christ, 2051 NW 31st Ave,, Fort Lauderdale,, FL 33311. A committal service will occur Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.
