My deepest condolences to Don.      Doug was an amazing person, full of life and with a fierce intellect. Doug was my friend. But I was also Doug and Don's tenant for 11 years. They approached me about being their tenant. They were very good to me. They Never raised my rent in 11 years. Thank you, for that! We spent ten days in Paris together. I remember walking down the streets of Paris late at night. Laughing and talking about good times. Doug and Don would come over to my home, their house, and visit when my parents visited from Pennsylvania. Sometimes for dinner. They also took the time and effort to put together a 50th party for me at their wonderful home in Wilton Manors. They were good people. Doug was a good person. Many good memories. I will miss him. Don, Remember the good times. There were many. Hugs, my friend.

 I have such fond memories of you and Doug celebrating life through music! Your joint affection for the Gay Men's Chorus was clearly evident, and I so appreciated seeing the two of you at the Master Chorale of South Florida concerts.  I know that bothy groups provided hours of delight for both of you over the years! 

May music  be a continual  source of comfort and vitality in the days and months ahead, as you heal and learn  to live with your new reality.  May you find peace in his memory; he was truly a remarkable man and citizen of our community.  I am grateful to have known him and to know you.

When we think of Doug and what he meant to so many, the word that comes to mind is "Champion." Whether fighting for a cause, fighting personally for you and your idea, fighting for our universal rights, Doug was a true champion - you wanted him in your corner. It's no coincidence, then, that when Doug needed to fight for himself, he rose to the challenge like never before! Not sure we've ever seen someone fight so hard to regain his own health, his own life, his own dignity. Everything he went through was made to seem a mild inconvenience. We all know it wasn't, but that's what he would have us believe. His courage was purely astounding. Thanks for everything you ever did for and who you were for us, Doug. We will miss you. I have known Doug for over 50 years. Most of which as  great brother in law. Have enjoyed hearing of the many adventures he and my brother Don were able to experience.  He was well known to many of us for his Christmas time letter he would send telling of their past year. You definitely had to find a quiet place  to sit and read and allow at least a half hour of your time to catch up with their adventures.  He will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences… I’ve been a baritone section member of the chorus for 2 years ..and never had the pleasure of meeting Doug. I have heard from many members of the chorus that he was a sweet and kind man… I wish I could tell him how much I enjoy singing with the chorus he helped create..I will sing my best as I know he will be watching and listening from above… Again my condolences, sincerely James Mallon
