Doris Eileen Scott was born on December 6th, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois to William Robert Emmons and Antonia Pearl Emmons. Doris grew up in Bartonville, Illinois and attended Peoria Manual High School, graduating in 1946. Doris briefly worked for an insurance company, and on October 8, 1949, married George Ralph Scott, Jr., in Peoria, Illinois. Son, Steve was born in 1953 and within a few years Doris and Ralph moved to the Chicago area. Son, Brian in 1956, and Daughter, Lisa in 1960, were born in Elmhurst, Illinois. Ralph was transferred to New York in 1964, and the family lived in Summit, New Jersey until returning to Elmhurst in 1967. In 1979, Doris and Ralph moved to Longwood, Florida. Her time in Longwood was filled with many happy memories of holidays, grandchildren and family gatherings. In 2005, Doris and Ralph moved to Boca Raton, Florida for the remainder of her life.
Doris was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her husband and children meant everything to her and were the center of her life. Doris also gave to others while involved with the Illinois Children’s Home and Aid Society, serving as President of a local chapter. Doris was a member of the Presbyterian Church and her faith was important to her. Doris loved entertaining at home, knitting, card playing, bird watching, travel, and cruising.
Doris is survived by husband, Ralph, two sons, Steve and Brian, daughter, Lisa and five grandchildren. She joins her father, Bill, mother, Toni, and brother Merrill in Heaven.
There will be a memorial service scheduled at a time to be determined due to COVID-19 restrictions. It will be held at the St. Andrews North Chapel, where Doris lived.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the WillowBrooke Court skilled care facility at St. Andrews North for their assistance and kindness to Doris during her time there
