It was by no means a delay that on July 4th, 2020 Crystal Faith McLeod affectionately called Crissy by her family and friends, and Pumpkin by her father was called home to rest. Crystal’s quiet demeanor and infectious smile lit up any room she was in. God loaned her to her parents Juliet Treasure and Christopher McLeod for 17 wonderful years.
Christopher and Juliet received their tangible evidence of faith when Crystal was born on October 9th, 2002. Crystal’s journey began in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Church has always been a foundation for the family and Crystal’s first love for ministry and God, began at Living Water Church of God in Florida. Crystal’s journey in this season saw her attending Open Bible daycare from ages 1 to 3.
Life kept moving and changing and the family relocated to Atlanta Georgia in 2006. Crystal attended Lakedow Preschool during her Kindergarten years and Ola Elementary from grades 1 to 5. Crystal was a curious learner and even at that age had big dreams for herself. While in Atlanta Crystal attended Tabernacle of Praise International.
Crystal’s journey again changed routes in 2015 when she and her mother relocated to Florida. Crystal attended the Oakland Park Church of God of Prophecy church where she was extremely active in the dance and youth ministries. Her middle school experience took place at Silver Lake from grades six to eight. Her last stop was at Boyd Anderson High School where she was an International Baccalaureate with a 4.2 GPA. Not only was she an excellent student but Crystal also had a heart for serving. She mentored students, planned events, volunteered within her Christian praise dance group, participated in Girl’s Scout, and held leadership positions such as grade 11 Treasurer within her school community. Crystal was also the ambassador for the Upper Bound Club and was an active member in the “PINK” club.
Family and friends would tell you Crystal was always smiling and had a positive attitude. She loved travelling and enjoyed her good Jamaican food. Crystal loved quoting scriptures and would constantly hug and kiss her mom telling her “God’s got us”. We may not understand that now, but we have to have hope and faith that God has got her even now in the palms of his hands. Crystal had an extreme love for her home church and enjoyed mentoring the younger children within her congregation.
Crystal had big dreams for herself and had all intentions of attending University, however, God whispered in her ears, “this journey is at its end, I am ready for you. I am ready to take you home because your mission is accomplished, you have inspired all those who were on this train, and you have finished your course. Job Well Done!
Crystal leaves behind her parents Juliet Treasure and Christopher McLeod. Siblings Felicia Francis- Allison, Courtney and Chris Ann McLeod, niece and nephew. Maternal Grandparents Dawn Richards and Withworth Treasure. Crystal is loved and will be missed by her family in the US, Canada, UK and Jamaica.
Crystal’s middle name Faith was given to her in remembrance of her paternal grandmother Cynthia Faith Freeman who was called home on November 27th, 1997. Ironically Crystal will be laid to rest today in the Garden of Hope and Faith. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.
Crystal this is your time to sleep. Your exit was not a mistake as God only takes his best. It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. We love you.
Crystal will be so dearly missed.
