Dr. Christopher Michael Lonetta, 49, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away unexpectedly at his home March 17, 2025. Son of Anthony J. Lonetta and Michele Gualtiere Lonetta, Christopher was born February 5, 1976 in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Christopher was a 1994 graduate of Steubenville High School, a 1998 graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a 2003 Graduate of Barry University with a Master of Science with a major Anesthesiology, and a 2014 graduate of Barry University with a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Chris was passionate about his career as an anesthesia provider, following in the footsteps of his Godmother and Aunt, Janice Gualtiere, with whom he shared a life-long bond. Chris worked for many years at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist administering anesthesia in the operating room, as well as serving in corporate anesthesia leadership roles and teaching at anesthesia conferences and at his alma mater, Barry University.
Christopher loved his two children, Juliana Marie Lonetta and Liam Christopher Lonetta, more than anything in the world. Words cannot adequately describe the loving relationship he had with his children. You could frequently find them doing activities such as deep-water fishing, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and attending University of Miami football games and Pittsburgh Pirates spring training games. His daughter Juliana inherited her father’s sense of humor and the two of them enjoyed many laughs and inside jokes together. Chris found great joy and connection with his son Liam while working with him on his athletic training for football as well as coaching Liam’s football team. Chris will be deeply missed by both Juliana and Liam.
Christopher is survived by his parents Anthony J. Lonetta and Michele Lonetta, a sister Toni Jean Lonetta, all of Steubenville, Ohio, his daughter Juliana Marie Lonetta and her mother, Millicent “Millie” Batalo, son Liam Christopher Lonetta and his mother Sara Blum, his Godmother and Aunt Janice Gualtiere, and dearest friend Nikki Prine all of Fort Lauderdale. Aunt Marianne Gualtiere Tichon, of Orlando, FL, and Uncle Nick Lonetto of Steubenville as well as many cousins, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Michael Gualtiere, Helen Gualtiere, August Lonetta, and Mary Elias Lonetta.
In lieu of flowers, Chris’s wish was for donations to support his children’s future. Those who would like to contribute may send donations via Zelle to a joint account held by Sara and Millie, which will be distributed evenly between the two children.
To donate via Zelle, please use the email: Sarablum113@yahoo.com (please do not use phone numbers, as this email is directly linked to the children’s account).
