Chris Michael Habig, beloved son of the late Henry Habig Jr. and LaVerne K. Habig, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 62. He was a devoted husband to Shannon (née Crigler) and a loving father to Christina Habig (Jake), William Scott (Amanda) Habig, and Katlyn Habig.
Chris was the cherished brother of Diane (Michael) Haynay, Craig Habig, Mark (Lori) Habig, Duane Habig, Mary (Jim) Mueller, Sue (Jimmy) Sena, Jay Habig, and Angie (Tom) Pope. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his two granddaughters, Emma and Ava.
Chris’s love for his family and friends was unparalleled. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and dedicated his entire life to the hospitality industry, beginning his career as a young boy in his family’s restaurant, Habig’s, in Cincinnati, Ohio. When Chris and his family moved from Ohio to Florida, he joined the La Bamba organization and worked alongside the Molina / Martinez family for 14 years who he cherished loved deeply.
Chris was passionate about sports, particularly the Cincinnati Bengals, and enjoyed playing basketball, spending time outdoors in the sun, and fixing anything that needed repair. His friends and family affectionately called him the “Handy Man.”
Despite a long battle with Parkinson’s, Chris remained strong and resilient. He is now watching over his loved ones from above.
A visitation for Chris will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraeer/Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308.
