It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Robert Joseph McNay announces his passing. After a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and surrounded by his family Robert was called home to be with his maker on June 25th, 2011.
Robert was born on July 12th, 1965 in Marathon, Ontario.
Robert leaves to forever cherish his memories his son Jordan Fischer (Vanessa Brisson-Fischer), his father Lorne McNay (Sandra Bliss-McNay), his mother Anna McNay, sister, Sandra McNay, brother Marc McNay, nieces Danielle Lee and Samantha Halliday, nephew Joseph Lee and great niece Trinity Lee-Ward and maternal grandmother Lucienne Gagne. Robert was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Albert Gagne and his paternal grandparents, John and Isla McNay.
Robert will also be sadly missed by his friends and co-workers at Abitibi Bowater where he was employed for the past 25 years.
Robert was a very simple, quiet and gentle man, who never asked or wanted for much. Robert’s interests included, his daily Tim Horton’s coffee, his hard cover Stephen King collection, his love of music, fishing and camping with his family, playing poker or texas hold ‘em, often going on gambling excursions with his buddy Tom. Robert and his niece Samantha shared a very close and special bond, spending lots of quality time together and enjoying their “adventures”. One of the highlights of Robert’s life was a recent vacation to the Dominican Republic with his family, wanting us to forever have those memories. In 2004 Robert was reunited with his son Jordan, who was given up for adoption as a newborn. Jordan and Robert were able to form a special friendship and in 2010 Robert was introduced to Jordan’s mother, Barbara Fischer. This was a very special moment for Robert.
Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances at 1:00 in the afternoon.
Pallbearers will be Michael Johnston, Michael Smith, Brian Eyolfson, Tom Hebert, Jason “Coiner” Aucoin and Jason “Rawg” Whitehead. Honourary pallbearers will be all of Robert’s family and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation c/o Green Funeral Home, 600 Reid Avenue, Box 427, Fort Frances, Ontario, P9A 3M8 where the donations will be used to send a local child to Tim Horton’s Camp Day.
Thanks for all the memories Rob, now go and play at the big poker table in the sky!!
Until we meet again…Always and forever in our hearts. We love you!!
For a little while……
I came to visit.
For a little while…..
I came to play.
Only for a little while….
‘cause I couldn’t stay.
For a little while…..
Great memories I made.
For a little while….
Our lives we got to share.
Only for a little while…..
‘cause I was needed elsewhere.
For a little while….
I lived and smiled and I survived.
For a little while…
I learned and loved and I forgave.
Only for a little while….
‘cause I was called away.
For a little while…..
I was there by your side.
For a little while….
You took such good care of me.
Only for a little while….
‘cause it’s not where I was meant to be.
But now you must grieve and shed a tear….
But please do so only “for a little while….”
You may not see me, but I will always be near!!
