Jeanie Woods

September 26, 1945 – June 21, 2011

Jean Woods of Fort Frances passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Jean was born at Crowe Portage September 26, 1945 and spent her early years at Sabaskong First Nation. She attended residential school in Fort Frances.

On November 18, 1967, she married Art (Chaw) Woods, they made their home in Fort Frances and together raised three children, Owen, Burt, and Margaret Rose.

Jean had many joys in her life, her children, their children, and her cat, “Askim.” Jean could always be counted on to attend a family gathering, she didn’t always have a lot to say, but she was always there. Jean and Art also enjoyed their “bingo” time together; she was dedicated to the “sport.”

Jean is survived by her husband Art “Chaw”, sons Owen and Burt (Dyanne) and Margaret Rose (Rob). She was a very loving and proud grandma to Danielle, Monica, Shyanne, Caleb, and Braxton.

She is survived by her sister Alice, brothers, Tommy (Liza) and Raymond and sister-in-law Bev.

She also leaves to mourn her passing her in law family, Rose and Dick Bird, Dolly (Lucille) Johnson, Lila Schaaf and Willie Woods as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother Rose Shebegagit, her father Tommy Shebegagit Sr., her brothers Frank and Joe, her parents in law, Margaurite and Billy Woods, brothers in law, Eugene and Donald (Gandy) Woods, and sister in law, Beatrice Magel.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario. Georgina Connor will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the East End Hall.
