It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Sus announces his passing on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Rainy Crest Long Term Care in Fort Frances. Fred was born September 18, 1926 in Rakow Las, Poland to Anna and John Sus. At the age of four, Fred immigrated to Canada with his family where he spent the rest of his years.
Fred was a dedicated worker, employed at the local mill for thirty-seven years before retiring as Ground Wood Supervisor. He loved the game of golf and was an avid member of the Kitchen Creek Golf Course for many years. Fred took great pride in his well maintained yard and spent many hours tending to his vegetable garden. Fred enjoyed his retirement spending many weekends fishing remote lakes, hunting and enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (nee Martin) whom he married in 1953, and their four children: Lynn (Wilf), Cathy (Jim), John (Monica), and Bonny (Brian). He is also survived by his younger sister Vickie (Elmer) of British Columbia. Fred was loved by his grandchildren Jennifer, Melissa, Ariel, Mathew, Erica, Adam, Steven, Sarah, and Samantha and great-grandchildren Ashley, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Madalyn, Cameron, Carley and Jonathan. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Bill and Gladys Martin, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Vera, Betty, Nettie, Helen and brother John.
A celebration of Fred’s life for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 2:00 until 4:00 at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 in Fort Frances, Ontario. The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 Color Party will provide their tribute at the service.
