Donald Robert (Bob) Banks

Donald Robert (Bob) Banks passed away peacefully at Rainycrest Long Term Care on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 79. Bob was born in Fort Frances on September 14, 1942 to Alice and Robert Banks. He moved to Atikokan in 1963 where he met his wife Doreen (Demchuk). Bob and Doreen were married in 1965 and moved to Fort Frances in 1970, where they worked and raised their three children; Sheila, Brian and Nicole.

Bob worked for the Town of Fort Frances, retiring in 2003 after 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Labourers' International Union of North America and lastly worked seasonally with Hydro One; retiring from LiUNA in 2011.

Bob was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather that enjoyed taking memorable family road trips across Canada and the USA. He loved being outdoors; fishing, camping, bird hunting, chopping firewood, berry picking and gardening.

Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Doreen; children: Sheila, Brian (Jackie) and Nicole Rego (Banks) of Thunder Bay; grandchildren: Danielle, Jacqueline, Brittany, Colton, Seth and Samuel. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Wendy) Banks of Thunder Bay; sister-in-law, Carol Banks; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Demchuk family; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Alice (McRitchie) Banks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Anne Demchuk; granddaughter, Sarah O'Kane and his brother, Ronald Banks.
