David was born August 28, 1926 in Fort Frances, Ontario. On September 11, 1946 David married Katherine (Katie) Sereduik. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage together and raised their 5 children in Mine Centre, Ontario.
As a young man David started his logging career working on the Mine Centre lakes, operating the tug boat. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy times fishing, enjoying the shoreline fish fries. David was employed for 2 years with M.T.O as a heavy equipment operator and finished his working career employed with the Mine Centre School Board, taking pride as their #1 custodian.
In retirement David spent many hours in his workshop, wood carving and making lawn ornaments and crafts, giving them away to family and friends. In March 2005, David moved to Green Manor in Fort Frances, Ontario, enjoying himself and made many new friends.
David was an active member for 59 years of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #29, and looked forward to his regular Friday outings to the meat and attendance draws.
David is survived by his children Tony (Louise), Kathy (Bob), Richard (Joanne), Jim (Linda) and daughter-in-law Denise, brother Robert and sisters Francis McKiel and Norma Ryan.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kim-Jo and Shane, Shannon and Laureen, Jamie, Robbie and Stuart, Todd and Tanis, Brande, Brittany and Abraham & their families, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his wife, Katie, son Dave (Buster), parents Edgar and Marcella Bliss, brothers, Joe Sr, George and Daniel.
Honorary Pallbears will be Stanley McMillan, Ron McMillen, Ken Carlson, Bill Johnson, George Barrett and Doris Dennis.
The family invites and welcomes you to join them in celebrating David’s life. A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 1 2013 at Riverview Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon and expression of memories will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 in Fort Frances, ON.
