Clifford Crawford, age 97 years of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne Street, Fort Frances, ON formerly of Golden Age Manor, Emo, ON, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011.
Clifford was born on May 22, 1913 in Chapple Township, Ontario to the late Ephram and Margaret Crawford. Cliff grew up and lived his early years on the family farm in White hawk, ON. On October 9, 1938 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Kehl. They lived on the family farm and started raising their family. Cliff farmed and drove school bus for many years. In 1953, they bought a farm in Black Hawk, ON and continued to raise their family. Cliff served time on the Barwick council, Blackhawk School Board and was 4-H leader for many years. He was well liked by all his neighbours and was always willing and able to lend a helping hand when asked. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and play cards with all his friends. In 1978 Cliff retired from farming and built a house in Emo, where he continued to garden and help his neighbours. Cliff loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in 2000 they sold the house and moved into the Golden Age Manor until 2005 when they moved and settled at Rainycrest where he has resided since.
Clifford leaves to mourn one son Donald (Marlyne); one son-in-law Vernon Dungey; grandchildren Douglas (Yvonne),Susan (Vic), Wayne, Krista (Miles), Sean and Wayne; great grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Jonathan, Danny, Ricky, Nathan and Braiden and two nieces Evelyn and Patsy.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Beatrice; one daughter Carol Dungey; one brother Norman; one sister-in-law Mabel and one brother-in-law Albert.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo, ON with Reverend Frances Flook officiating. Interment will take place in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, ON.
Honourary pallbearers will be his grandsons Sean and Wayne Crawford, Doug and Wayne Dungey, great grandsons Danny and Ricky Gagne and Nathan and Braiden Purdy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rainycrest for their wonderful care over the past years.
