It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Annie Grabowski, 90, wife of the late Edward Grabowski, on Monday, December 2nd, 2013 at Riverside Health Care Facility in Fort Frances, ON.
She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her son Ron and wife Diane of Fort Frances, ON, and daughter Shelly Douglas and husband Allan of Winnipeg, MB. Also left to cherish her memory are four grandsons, as well as four great-grandchildren: Chad Grabowski and wife Melissa and their children Lucas and Addison of Prosper, TX, Dean Grabowski and wife Stacey and their children Ariel and Isaac of Winnipeg, MB, Branden Douglas and wife Suzanne of Winnipeg, MB and Dustin Douglas of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by her sister Pearl Huculak of Detroit, MI and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Mike Bunio, John Bunio, Peter Bunio, Bill Bunio, and her sister Mary Bourbeau.
Mom was born on September 15th, 1923 in the RM of St. Clements, MB. She grew up on the farm in Manitoba, married the love of her life, Edward, in 1944, and later moved to Fort Frances where she worked in the grocery and hardware retail businesses.
She was an energetic lady and it could be said that she was a real spitfire. Her days were filled with many activities that she enjoyed including baking, cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing, and going to the casino. She loved having people around her and was very happy when friends stopped by for a visit. Everyone who knew her loved her. Above all, her family was her life. She loved her family unconditionally and was extremely devoted to them. Family gatherings were one of her greatest joys and she cherished every minute with them. Her four grandsons (who Grandma lovingly referred to as her “four boys”) were her pride and joy. We are incredibly thankful to have had this wonderful mom and grandma in our lives and will always treasure the many special memories of our time together.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chad, Dean, Branden, and Dustin, as well as friend, Stan Blasky, and nephew, Brian Schledewitz.
