She was born on November 20, 1917 in Banning, Ontario to Jack and Nettie Harasymyk. The family moved to Barwick when she was an infant and they resided there until she was a teenager, moving to Fort Frances. She was united in marriage to Edward Ryan on May 9, 1939 and settled into a life at home, raising her two boys, James and Paul. She loved to cook, she made everything from scratch, never following a recipe. She loved to watch cooking shows, picking up tips along the way. Ann kept to herself putting all her attention into her family. She enjoyed many visits with her grandchildren and loved going to the lake to spend time with her great grandchildren. Anne also spent many years cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, she knew all the players and who would be pitching in the next game.
Ann loved her annual Duluth shopping trips with the girls and always kept them entertained with her packing and shopping methods. Ann earned a plaque from the Barbados Tourism Bureau for over 30 years of vacationing there. She and Ed made many friends on their vacations there and she continued those visits to Barbados for many years after his passing.
Ann was predeceased by her parents Jack and Nettie; husband Edward on March 12, 1977.; brother Bill Harasymyk and wife Isabel; sisters-in-law Mary Baldwin and husband Gordon, and Theresa Stewart and husband Ron; brothers-in-law Gene Kiyak, Bill, Lawrence, Patrick and Mike Ryan.
She leaves behind her sons James and Paul (Gay Lynn) of Fort Frances; grandchildren Lisa (Kevin) Blanchard of International Falls, MN and Karla (Karl) Bodnar of Fort McMurray, AB; great grandsons Colten and Gage Blanchard, Kai and Kiril Bodnar; sister Jen Kiyak of Luddington, Michigan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Father Milton McWatch officiating.
