The family of Albert (Abs) Joseph George regretfully inform of his unexpected death. He left us exactly as he would have wanted – at the beloved family cabin, after a long day of work on his rock wall; no long good-byes. Abs will be fondly remembered for his larger-than-life personality that has touched so many both personally and professionally. He had a special rapport with kids, and as a result they were drawn to him. Especially noteworthy was his commitment and dedication to the youth of his community. Not only was it admirable, but it served to fulfill his passion for sport and fitness. He was a man that took a great deal of pride in this career – his work ethic was impeccable, and he was well respected. Without a doubt he would tell you that his greatest accomplishment was his children and grandchildren; he took great deal of pride in all his family.
Abs was predeceased by his mother Margaret (Muggins) and father Chester George.
He leaves behind his loving wife Angelika Roehrig; his sisters Leona Wilson and Bea (Jim) Brown; his children Tara, Brandy (Dave), Travis (Carley), and Lisa (Brody); his grandchildren Carter, Colton, Faith, Rori, and Bree; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Albert’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan with Father Elvis Odoegbulem officiating.
The honourary pallbearers will be Carter George, Herb Roehrig, Andy Roehrig, Brad Brown, Brian Brown and Tim Fairbairn.
