Melvin Acosta Ramirez passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Willowbrook, Illinois, at the age of 79 on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Melvin was born April 12, 1945 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He is the son of the late Tomas Acosta Avilés and Teresa Ramirez de Acosta. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Ada, Gijo, Edwin, Mirca, Tomas, Elsie, José, Cheito and his first wife Acela.
He is survived by his siblings: Luis (Soraida), Rafael, Jaime, Alma. His loving wife: Elda, and his children: Reimundo, Melvin Jr., (Rosa), Ethel (Oscar Chavez). Grandchildren: Reimundo Jr., (Michelle), Michael, Julian, Cynthia, (Edwin Morales), Christina, Dominic (Emily), Sofiya Chavez and Ezequiel Chavez. Great grandchildren: Elysia Morales, Camila Morales, Cairo Morales and Xavier Acosta and his goddaughter, Adriana Goldsworthy; and many nephews and nieces.
A visitation for Melvin will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. For more information please call (708) 442-8500.
