Luz Elena Peña

Luz Elena Peña was born on February 11, 1934 in Dr. Arroyo NL, Mexico. Surrounded by family and loved ones, she passed away at the age of 89 on January 7, 2024. She was a loving wife of 64 years of the late Rogelio Peña Peña and a loving mother of Rogelio, Gilberto, and Juan Antonio.

She met Rogelio in High School and dated for eight years. She graduated from H.S. and went on to attend the Universidad de Nuevo Leon, in Mexico. She and Rogelio married on April 7, 1958, in Monterrey, NL, Mexico. They moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1958, where they raised their three sons.

Luz Elena began her career in-home direct-sales working for Avon, Stanley Home Products, Queensway to Fashion and Jafra where she excelled as a leader and mentor for 41 years. During her tenure with Jafra she and Rogelio traveled to many destinations in the world including China, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Rogelio (Christina), Gilberto (Alma) and Juan Antonio (Martha). Also, survived by her seven cherished grandchildren, Hector (Angelica), Angel (Nicholas Magaña), Gilberto II (Amanda), Amanda Luz (Hugo Sanchez), Marla Rose (Alfredo Reyes), Monica Elissa and Karyssa Mia, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Ariyana Luna Peña, Yuvia Genevieve Sanchez, Eli Ezequiel Sanchez and Audrey Rose Reyes.

Visitation is Friday, January 12, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois. Funeral mass is Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10 am at St. Leonard Church, 3318 Clarence Avenue, Berwyn, Illinois with prayers at the funeral home at 9:00am. Entombment Queen of Heaven.
