Louis R. Smith, Sr., age 86, longtime resident of Maywood, passed away after a brief illness on January 27, 2017 at Westlake Hospital. Louis was the beloved husband of 58 years of LaVerne (Williams) Smith; the loving father of Louis, Jr. and Lincoln Smith; a proud grandfather of Louis Smith III, Carrie Ashley (Scott) Lietzow and Lincoln Smith, Jr.; a dear brother of Ruth Jones and his siblings who preceded him in death; Lester, Effie, Myrtle, Rosetta, and Charles; he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed by all who knew him. A visitation is scheduled Thursday 2-8 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park. A Funeral Service will take place Friday at 10:00 AM at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 1309 Madison St, Maywood, IL 60153. Cremation rites will take place privately at Woodlawn Crematory.
