September 1, 1964 – April 5, 2025
David “Dave” John Embrey, 60, of Berwyn, passed away suddenly on April 5, 2025. He was
born in Barrington, Illinois, the son of Frank and Mayrene Embrey. He graduated from
Barrington High School, class of 1983. He married Teri Ross on October 31, 2000 in Oak
Park, IL.
Dave, a talented artist himself, enjoyed art of all types, often tinkering with small-scale
models and partnering with a friend to import primitives from overseas. Later, he founded a
small antiques and collectibles store online with his wife, Teri. Dave also loved puzzles and
games of all kinds and would regularly meet with a close group of friends to play. He had a
passion for food and cooking which he often shared with family and friends. He also spent
time as a volunteer with Shriners Children’s Hospital and a local food pantry.
Most important to him, however, was family. He is survived by his wife Teri (Ross); his 6
children David J. (Cynthia) Bennett, Jasmine, Jeremiah (Regine), Ashley, Daphne/Archie and
Josie; his father Frank; his sisters, Dawn Embrey, Debbie (Robert) Kapelle and Donna
Norman; 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his
mother, Mayrene.
A celebration of his life will be held at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church, 1248 S. Harvey
Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402, on Saturday, April 12, starting at 2 pm, with a brief potluck to follow.
Honoring Dave’s love of cooking, attendees are requested to bring a favorite dish to pass
and copies of the recipe to share. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations
made to the Ebenezer Community Foundation or a local food pantry in his memory
