Charles L. Sarris, age 79, resident of Chicago, passed away March 8, 2015 after a long illness. Beloved husband for 47 years of Meredith, nee Wallace; dear brother of Katherine Sarris (the late Max) Gregg and Arthur, M.D. (Linda) Sarris; fond brother-in-law of James Wallace; proud uncle of Maryann (Frank) Mihalopoulos and Thalia Banowsky; caring great-uncle of Alexandra (Ford), Arthur, Meredith, Cameron, Will and Claire. Preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mary Sarris. Charlie was born in Antigo, Wisconsin. He earned a B.S. in Psychology from University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University. Charlie had an expansive career as an executive in the pharmaceutical industry, having served Abbott Labs for eleven years, and Pfizer Inc. for 29 years, most recently as their Regional President of Africa and the Middle East. A high ranking Pfizer executive remarked that, “We could send Charlie to the far side of the moon, and we would have a Pfizer pharmaceutical business there within six months. It won’t be long before Charlie has the Pfizer branch office up and running in heaven.”. He and his wife Meredith, before settling in Chicago lived all across the globe, including Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Egypt and Hong Kong. It was Charlie’s wish to donate his body for scientific study, in the hopes that a positive outcome may help the study of Alzheimer’s disease, which affected him.
