Charles J. Hoening

Charles J. Hoening, age 99, of Lyons, peacefully passed on August 23, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia. Joined into eternal rest with his parents Jacob and Alexandria Hoening; brothers; Frank (Mary), Herb (Gerry), Richard (Pat), Lawrence and Edward. Cherished uncle to late Charles (Sherry), Kevin (Linda), Brian (Pearl), Bruce (Dee), Kieran (Libby), Marilyn (Craig), Patty, Colleen (Randy), Lisa (Al), Pam (Tom), Tamara and the late David. A great uncle to Cara, Mairin, Nona, Chuck, Nick, Jenny, Tad, Samantha, Andrea, Michael, Beth, Stephanie, Laura, Tanya, Norman, Sydney, Austin, Lindsey, Emma, Matt, Eric, Amy, Zach, Jake, Tommy, Katie, Maddie, the late Ryan, Charlie, John, Anton, Jenny and many great-great nieces and nephews. A wonderful step-father to Laurie (Mike), Buddy, and Cynthia (Edward). Step grandfather to Shannon, Jackie, Bill, Allie, Diana and Nickie. Step great-grandfather to Gabi. Chuck was president of St. Hugh Holy Name Society for many years. He was also president of the Cicero Concertina Circle for many years. Chuck worked for the Railroad Retirement Board in the Disability Benefit Department until his retirement in 1972. He served in the US Army Aircorp during WWII in Burma, India and Africa. He was a member of the Berwyn Moose and also a member of the American Legion Post 1941 for many years. He enjoyed playing the concertina, dancing and cruisng the world with Claudia. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Visitation Monday, 2-8 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 W. Cermak Rd., Forest Park.
